Mind the Gap, Inc. hosted Technical Artisans Collective’s Carpentry Basics workshop. Students 10-18 learned how to measure, cut, fasten, level and design. After learning some basic skills, each student designed and built a picture frame from start to finish, including hanging it level on a wall and talking with the other students about how they each made their design and construction choices. At the end of the day, students were proud of themselves for creating a project in word from start to finish. Many students said they were happy that they had overcome their fears of power tools and of making mistakes. A wonderful day was had by all!
