Hackley School: Shakespeare in 2D, 3D & HD

TAC Pilot Program at Hackley School

TAC piloted it’s work in schools with the Hackley School in Tarrytown for four months, helping to create a tech core of high school students in design and theatrical production, as well as teaching  interdisciplinary education in the academic classroom.

TAC Academic Reinforcement:  Shakespeare in 2D, 3D & HD

In Hackley’s 7th grade English, TAC taught students how to design and build set models for Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, so that students could follow the story in a tactile manner. Students had to identify specific words, phrases and plot points from which they created their set design.  By building their set models near the beginning of their unit, students were able to better understand the language and story throughout their reading of the text.  At the end of the unit, students performed scenes on their set models through using the models with a green screen.  In addition to this, the 7th graders built set-pieces for the highschool production of AMSND.   It was a unit the students will not soon forget!
